Central Asian Countries To Develop Energy System

www.neonomad.kz

The countries of the “Centro Asian Ring” — the geopolitical space including the Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia — are working to increase the reliability of their national power systems. Kazakhstan is developing electricity for export and other countries plan to benefit transits made by Kazakhstan’s network, which provides business development.

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan may resume parallel operation of its unified energy system. At this point, the “Centro Asian Ring” operates with a restriction in relation to the Tajik power system. According to head of KEGOK (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company) Almasadam Satkaliev, the decision to adopt a united energy system will be finally adopted in September this year in Bishkek at a meeting of all participating countries.

According to Satkaliev, the coming autumn and winter will need maximum power to bring energy to certain regions, as there are concerns that some regions will not be able to meet power transmission guidelines. The Tajik energy system will enter into the united energy system only after the settlement of this matter. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan support Tajikistan’s desire to cooperate in order to resume full power of Central Asian countries in a parallel electricity regime.

The main objectives of are to develop proposals for a unified strategy for electricity development in the region, rational use of water and energy resources, agree on principles of electric power systems and the adopt mutually agreed decisions and rules to ensure the cost-effective, mutually beneficial, and reliable energy system in Central Asia.

KEGOC serves as the system operator of Kazakhstan’s unified power system, whose main task is to ensure the sustainability of the unified electricity system and the implementation of good governance of the national electricity network.
